Being and Weaving. Tradition and New Trends
From November 16th, the Collegiata dei Santi Pietro e Orso in Aosta will open the exhibition “Essere e tessere. Tradizione e nuove tende” (Being and weaving. Tradition and new trends) to the public. The exhibition was born from the desire to tell the story of the textile craftsmanship of the Aosta Valley, a set of knowledge with ancient origins, so deeply rooted in a territory that it is its cultural expression. The story of the textile tradition starts from the artisan cooperatives that carry on and renew a thousand-year-old tradition – Les Dentellières de Cogne, Lou Dzeut di Champorcher and Les Tisserands di Valgrisenche – and then invites the visitor to turn their gaze to some new directions of local textile production between art and tailoring.
The exhibition can be visited from 16 November 2024 to 4 May 2025, admission is free.
