Going on a Bear Hunt

Let’s take off our shoes and set off!

Inspired by the picture book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, young participants embark on a sensory trail to be explored barefoot. An experience designed to help children discover, through their senses, the raw materials used in traditional Aosta Valley crafts.

Activity for children in the first year of preschool.

Location: SpaziØrsoEdu, AostaDuration: 1,5 hours. Maximum 15 participants per group ; possibility of dividing larger groups into subgroups. *Bilingual activity in Italian and French.
A game-visit in which children find the main geometric shapes hidden in the objects exhibited at the museum. Starting from these same shapes they will then create their own object, multi-form and multi-material, in the Educational Carpentry. A treasure hunt inside the exhibition space will lead children to discover traditional Aosta Valley games: tatà, galletti, tops, little animals and statuettes. The students will then become craftsmen and, with the tools of the Educational Carpentry, will make a small wooden animals. Location: MAV, FénisDuration: 3 hours Max 25 participants per group ; possibility of dividing larger groups into subgroups. *Upon request, this activity can also be conducted in French.
After a playful guided tour exploring the wool production process—from sheep to fabric—young artisans take part in a hands-on workshop combining wood and wool. They create a charming little sheep while putting their patience, precision, and creativity to the test. Location: MAV, FénisDuration: 2,5 hours Max 25 participants per group ; possibility of dividing larger groups into subgroups. *This workshop is also available as a travelling workshop, directly in your classrooms.*Upon request, this activity can also be conducted in French.
An experiential educational activity that combines sensory exploration with hands-on creativity. Through a playful guided visit, children discover how, in the past, nothing was wasted and reflect together on the importance of sustainability. Afterwards, they create a new object from recycled materials in the Educational Woodworking Workshop. Location: MAV, FénisDuration: 2,5 hours Max 25 participants per group ; possibility of dividing larger groups into subgroups. *This workshop is also available as a travelling workshop, directly in your classrooms.*Upon request, this activity can also be conducted in French.
A guided journey through the objects found in the squares of Alpine villages, which tell the story of daily life and community. Children discover shared gestures and traditions, and then create anthropomorphic wooden skittles in the Educational Woodworking Workshop, inspired by traditional village square games. Location: MAV, Fénis Duration: 2,5 hours Max 25 participants per group ; possibility of dividing larger groups into subgroups.

The tree is a very precious element for our planet. But what is it for and how is it used by man? We will discover it through direct experience with educational-entertainment activities in the forest, the observation of a craftsman at work, a visit to the water sawmill and the exhibition spaces of the MAV. At the end of the day, the children will create their own object in the Educational Carpentry: a real journey “from the forest to the object”.

Duration: 6 hours (with bus available for the whole day).
Min. 10 and max. 25 participants per group ; possibility of dividing larger groups into subgroups.
*This activity can only be done from April to October.
