Presentation of the volume Diálogos. Crafts and Images of Devotion
Wednesday, 23 September 2026, at 5:30 pm, the volume Diálogos. Crafts and Images of Devotion will be presented in the cloister of the Insigne Collegiate Church of Saints Peter and Ursus in Aosta. The publication stems from the eponymous distributed exhibition promoted by L’Artisanà.
The event is part of the programme of Plaisirs de Culture en Vallée d’Aoste 2026, dedicated to the theme “Heritage at Risk. Renew, Resist, Reinvent”, and offers an opportunity to reflect on the value of memory, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the ability of craftsmanship to keep the dialogue between past and present alive.
Published by Tipografia Valdostana, the volume brings together and expands upon the exhibition experience, combining artworks, images, documents and in-depth contributions. The exhibition’s four venues — the MAV Museum of Valdostan Craftsmanship in Fénis, the Priory of Saint Ursus in Aosta, Sarriod de La Tour Castle in Saint-Pierre, and Introd Castle — thus become chapters in a broader narrative centred on Sign, Memory, Connection and Return.
More than a simple exhibition catalogue, Diálogos is intended as a lasting record that extends beyond the duration of the exhibition: a visual narrative in which craftsmanship and devotion, material and memory, past and present meet and enter into dialogue.
The presentation in the cloister of Saint Ursus is particularly evocative: the pages of the volume are placed alongside the “pages” carved into the stone of the Romanesque cloister, a place that has preserved images, symbols and stories for centuries. Two forms of memory — paper and stone — come together to continue a dialogue across time.
Diálogos. Crafts and Images of Devotion is promoted by L’Artisanà, in collaboration with the Soprintendenza per i beni e le attività culturali della Regione autonoma Valle d’Aosta, with the support of the Department for Economic Development, Training, Employment, Transport and Sustainable Mobility and the Department for Education, Culture and Identity Policies.
