Workshops for families at MAV

On the occasion of the exhibition “Family stories and handed down knowledge: the Vuillermoz” the MAV offers a series of themed educational workshops. Inspired by the works of Vittorio, Luciano, Giulio and Franco, the children, in the MAV Educational Carpentry, will dress up as “artisans” for a day to create small wooden masterpieces.
The themes chosen for the educational activities are four that will follow one another every Wednesday afternoon from May to July with the aim of introducing children to woodworking, introducing them to the great families that have made the history of our craftsmanship and, through practical experimentation, disseminating the characteristics of the production of the exhibited artisans.
The workshop program is as follows:
• Materials, textures and tactile elements (1st, 29th May and 26th June)
After a fun game of observing the textures present in the works exhibited in the show, the children will try to engrave a wooden tablet to recreate on the coats of animals, fabrics, ears of cereals and other elements of nature.
• Discovering ancient crafts (May 8, June 5 and July 3)
Guided by the works exhibited in the exhibition, children will learn about some now forgotten trades and will be able to build, in the Educational Carpentry Workshop, works related to the agricultural work of the past: from sowing potatoes to processing slates.
• Alpine Animals (May 15, June 12 and July 10)
The domestic and wild animals of our mountains depicted in the works of the Vuillermoz will inspire our young craftsmen to create, in the Educational Carpentry Workshop, many different animals of the Alpine arc.
• Moving Statues (May 22, June 19 and July 17)
By observing and stealing the secrets hidden in the works on display we will discover how to make movement in wooden sculptures and each child will create their own “moving statue” in the Educational Carpentry.
The workshops are aimed at children aged 3 to 12 and the cost is €7 per child with the option of a subscription (€35 for 5 entries + 1 free). Reservations are required at the MAV (0165-763912) or at all regional tourism offices.
