Faces and Places – 41 Artisans Revealed by 1 Photographer

14 February 2010

Through a careful selection of handcrafted objects and the reconstruction of the Sant’Orso Fair, the exhibition allowed us to retrace the stages of the Aosta Valley artisan culture.

It is man’s relationship with his environment that transforms raw material into objects that express the strength of a bond with the territory. And it is this memory that the craftsman of the third millennium renews and interprets every time. Through a careful selection of craft objects and the reconstruction of the Sant’Orso Fair, it was possible to retrace the stages of the Aosta Valley craft culture in an exhibition curated by IVAT in collaboration with the Fondation Grand Paradis and the craftsmen of the homonymous Mountain Community and set up at the Visitor Centre of the Gran Paradiso National Park in Cogne. An exhibition that represented the true auspicious premise to the opening of the MAV.
