Craft Competition, 30 Years of Craft Events in Saint-Vincent

1 October 2020

An exhibition created to enhance the collection of the Office Régional du Tourisme, a collection of sculptures and artifacts that tell 30 years of events dedicated to craftsmanship in the municipality of Saint-Vincent. A collection capable of telling the story of Aosta Valley craftsmanship but also a historical era of our territory.

The exhibition features a collection of over 100 works, mostly sculptures, the result of 30 years of events dedicated to Aosta Valley craftsmanship in Saint-Vincent and now owned by the Office Régional du Tourisme. This collection bears witness to a historical period in the town of Saint-Vincent and the Aosta Valley, to the desire of a community to enhance artisan production and the pride of sculptors in showing off their know-how. The exhibition will be an opportunity to tell the story of the development of tourism in our region, the birth of initiatives aimed at promoting craftsmanship and in particular the first regional craft competition (which also became national for a few years). The works that make up the collection are sculptures, in wood and soapstone, and carved everyday objects that triumphed in the craft competition between 1983 and 1998.
