LOU DZEUT COOPERATIVA

Weaving has been, in past centuries, one of the predominant activities of the Champorcher community. In 1989, to preserve and pass on this ancient tradition, the Lou Dzeut cooperative was founded: their laboratory is at the same time a place of production, sale and exhibition to the public. Still today as in the past, hemp fabrics are made entirely by hand on ancient wooden manual looms.
The canvas (teila de meison) is sold by the meter and can be used to create not only curtains, tablecloths, sheets, towels and centrepieces, often embellished with crochet lace and hand embroidery, but also, on request, made-to-measure clothing.
The cooperative also organizes weaving courses on looms to make their business known and promote their activity.
