Oeuvre Choisie on display at the MAV

Oeuvre Choisie, the exhibition dedicated to the works selected at the 1023rd Foire de Saint-Ours, opens to the public on Saturday 4 March.
The initiative, curated by the MAV – Museo dell’Artigianato Valdostano di Tradizionale, was born twelve years ago to create opportunities for meeting and comparing the craftsmanship of the past and the present . Every year from the first light of dawn on January 30, among the stalls of the thousand-year-old Foire de Saint-Ours, the museum searches for the works that, in terms of material, manufacturing technique, aesthetics and proportion of shapes, best represent the ideal fil-rouge between the past and present of craftsmanship.
There are 18 works chosen at the last fair among sculptures, carved objects, vases and stone objects and they were created by Elvira Barmette, Giuseppe Bethaz, Ubaldo Cerise, Ezio Dejanaz, Osvaldo Empereur, Silvano Ferretti, Carlo Fosson, Michele Jaccod, Angelo Joly, Domenico Minniti, Angelo Nicco, Sergio Olmi, Augusto Saltarelli, Silvano Salto, Donato Savin, Liliano Savoye and Alessandra Zucco. There is also a work by Giangiuseppe Barmasse selected by Alberto Cavalli, director of the Cologni Foundation in Milan and the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity & Craftsmanship in Geneva, as a creation of excellent craftsmanship
The exhibition can be visited at the MAV from 4 March to 4 June 2023 from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00.
Entrance is included in the museum ticket.
