Family workshops

Well begun…

The year starts off with a bang at the MAV Educational Carpentry!
Every Wednesday afternoon in January, the museum offers “Tutti in Fiera con Sant’Orso”, a workshop dedicated to the legendary saint. Young participants can discover stories and legends about the character of Sant’Orso and then create, like “real craftsmen”, a small wooden sculpture of the saint.
The activities are aimed at children aged 3 to 12 and cost €8 per child with the option of a subscription.
Reservations required at www.lartisana.vda.it/biglietti.

The MAV at the Foire de Saint-Ours

The most anticipated event of the year in the world of crafts, the Foire de Saint-Ours, arrives on January 30th and 31st!
Also this year the museum proposes the initiative Oeuvre Choisie, now in its thirteenth edition: during the two days of the fair, among the stalls of the streets of the center the museum chooses the works that best reinterpret the distinctive traits of the Aosta Valley tradition in a contemporary way. The objects are evaluated based on the shape, the material used, the manufacturing technique and their function of use.
The works will subsequently be exhibited to the public at the MAV with a temporary exhibition dedicated to them.
The museum will also be the protagonist of the Veillà di Petchou, the unmissable appointment for children at the millenary. During the afternoon the educational services of the MAV propose mini workshops of Educational Carpentry for children. The little ones can thus discover the craftsmanship through doing and experimenting with manual skills.
The appointment is for January 30th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Cittadella dei Giovani in Aosta. Free activities with mandatory booking on site on the day of the event.
Finally, during the days of the Foire, the MAV is open to the public with free admission from 10am to 6pm.
