Exhibition “Mountain Spirit, Aosta Valley sculptors tell”

Discovering artisan culture with MAV

Starting from Sunday 7th July, the MAV – Museo dell’Artigianato Valdostano di Tradizionale will be hosting the exhibition “Spirito Montano, scultori valdostani raccontano”. The exhibition aims to narrate the mountain through emotions and images that find expression in wood and stone thanks to the fine craftsmanship of professional Aosta Valley sculptors.
The peculiarity of this exhibition is that it is a gallery-exhibition in which the works on display, which are all unique pieces, can be purchased by visitors. This is the first time that the museum has organized a gallery-exhibition with the aim of supporting those who have decided to make craftsmanship a profession and who, thanks to this profession, live and support their families and do so in the small municipalities located in the mountains and at the foot of the peaks of our region. Artisans are both custodians and narrators of the territory, as well as part of the local productive fabric. The exhibition features works by Manuel Baravex, Giangiuseppe Barmasse, Dario Berlier, Andrea Celestino, Matteo Crestani, Ornella Cretaz, Enrico Massetto, Luciano Regazzoni, Peter Trojer and Sebastiano Yon.
Also scheduled for Friday 12 July at 4:00 pm is “Due passi con il curatore: esposizione Spirito Montano”, a guided tour of the exhibition and its works with an exceptional guide. Participation in the guided tour requires a mandatory reservation (by 5:00 pm the day before) at www.lartisana.vda.it/biglietti and costs €5 per person (including the museum entrance ticket).
The exhibition can be visited from July 7th to November 3rd from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00. Entrance is included in the entrance ticket to the MAV.

Cultural proposals for adults and children

MAV summer activities continue at full speed!
Every Wednesday and Friday, morning and afternoon, the museum offers a rich programme of educational activities for children aged 3 to 12. The activities naturally take place in the museum’s Educational Carpentry Workshop, a unique creative-educational space, where children can, as always, experiment with the use of real tools (saws, drills, rasps and hammers) and work wood like “real” craftsmen. The workshops offered are dedicated to the mountains, nature and traditional objects and aim to help the little ones discover the beauty of craftsmanship.
Saturday 20th July is also the second appointment with the Atelier Forêt: postcards from the woods. Children and their families are invited to a workshop in the woods to rediscover contact with raw materials, practice manual skills and create a fabulous postcard starting from treasures found (or rediscovered) in nature.
Finally, on Sunday 7 and 28 July there are two days with “Escape MAV: the mystery of Brocherel” dedicated to the adult public. Through a game of clues and puzzles in the rooms of the museum, visitors can learn about the craftsmanship and collections on display. An invitation to experience the exhibition space in a new way and discover how much fun a place of culture can be!
The complete program of summer activities can be consulted online at www.lartisana.vda.it/calendario. We remind you that educational workshops require mandatory reservation at www.lartisana.vda.it/biglietti.
