On Saturday 17 June, the exhibition “Giorgio Cornaz, the infinite time of doing”, dedicated to a great craftsman from Morgex, opens to the public in the exhibition hall of the Collegiata dei Santi Pietro e Orso in Aosta. The exhibition, curated and organized by MAV in collaboration with the Department of Economic Development, Training and Work, Transport and Sustainable Mobility, is part of a review of the “Great Old Craftsmen”. After Livio Charbonnier, Gino Daguin and Carlo Gadin, now it’s Giorgio Cornaz’s turn and his creations.
The exhibition highlights the variety of the craftsman’s production, both sculptor and vanneur, who has been practicing craftsmanship with passion, patience and simplicity for over 60 years. The exhibition tells the story of the man, the objects and the time, that ancient patience that distinguishes Giorgio Cornaz, one of the last craftsmen capable of working willow with a “stitch stitch”.
The exhibition can be visited from June 17th to September 30th from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm with free admission.
Summer for small artisans
Summer is almost here and MAV teaching is not going on vacation!
Throughout the summer season, the museum offers a rich program of manual activities for the little ones: in the months of June and September there is always the appointment on Wednesday afternoon, while in July and August there are workshops on two days a week (Wednesday and Friday), morning and afternoon. The activities naturally take place in the museum’s Educational Carpentry, a unique creative-educational space, where children can experiment with the use of tools such as saws, drills, rasps and hammers and work wood like “real” craftsmen.
The proposed workshops aim to help the little ones discover the beauty of handcrafting…
