Atelier Forêt

A summer of craftsmanship and manual skills at MAV

The Atelier Forêt is the educational novelty of summer 2024. Between June and September, the museum organizes a series of educational events in nature (outside the museum) to explore the territory, rediscover contact with raw materials and practice manual skills. An opportunity to discover the woods of the Aosta Valley, experience nature and “do crafts” taking inspiration from the natural context.
4 events are planned between June and September with different themes exploring the relationship between nature and gestures:

  • June 15th from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm in Trois-Villes (Quart): “CREAtures in nature”
  • July 20th from 2.30pm to 6.00pm in Clavalité (Fénis): “Postcards from the Woods”
  • August 24th from 2.30pm to 6pm in Mayeres (Saint-Marcel): “From the forest to the sawmill”
  • September 14th from 2.30pm to 6pm in Lavesé (Saint-Denis): “Cornailles a tagliolini”

The watchwords are fun, discovery of manual skills and connection with nature.
The activities are aimed at families with children (divided by age groups). The cost is €15 per child and booking is mandatory by 5:00 pm the day before at www.lartisana.vda.it/biglietti

Guided tours with the curator

For this summer season, the MAV proposes “A Walk with the Curator”: three appointments at the museum, with its collections and exhibitions, in the company of Nurye Donatoni, curator and artistic director of the MAV – Museo dell’Artigianato Valdostano di Tradizionale. Accompanied by an exceptional guide, visitors can get to know the museum’s heritage up close and discover curiosities about objects and techniques of our artisan tradition.
The visiting schedule is as follows:

  • June 22nd 4.00pm-5.30pm: “Behind a Museum”
  • July 12th 4.00pm-5.30pm: “Mountain Spirit Exhibition”
  • August 2nd 4.00pm-5.30pm: “The symbols of tradition”

The visits are aimed at an adult audience and last approximately 100 minutes. The cost is €5 per person (including the museum entrance ticket) and booking is mandatory by 5pm the day before at www.lartisana.vda.it/biglietti

Family workshops

Like every year, the museum has planned a rich educational program for families with one appointment per week in June and September and four appointments per week in July and August. The activities take place in the museum’s Educational Joinery, a creative-educational space where children can experiment with the use of saws, drills, rasps and hammers and work wood like “real” craftsmen. Find the complete program at www.lartisana.vda.it/calendario.
The activities are aimed at families with children aged 3 to 12. The cost is €8 per child with the option of a season ticket. Reservations are required by 5:00 p.m. the day before at www.lartisana.vda.it/biglietti.

Escape MAV

During the summer months, the museum offers 5 events with “Escape MAV: the mystery of Brocherel”, a game of clues and puzzles through the museum rooms to learn about the craftsmanship and collections on display.
This sort of escape room inside the museum is an invitation to experience the exhibition space in a new way to discover how much fun a place of culture can be!
The activity is aimed at an adult audience and is included in the museum entrance ticket. Reservations are not required.
