On Saturday 14 October, the MAV-Museo dell’Artigianato Valdostano di Tradizionale is organizing “Merletti in festa”, an event dedicated to the ancient art of lace, a craft heritage spread throughout Italy and beyond . The day aims to conclude the exhibition “Merletti, fili che uniscono” with a moment of meeting and exchange between artisanal knowledge. For the occasion, the MAV exhibition space will be a single large lace workshop with demonstrations of workmanship and educational workshops for the little ones.
The program of the event is as follows:
- from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm demonstrations of artisanal workmanship by lace makers from Italian and transalpine associations
- at 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm educational workshops for children (3-12 years) entitled “Intrecci” by the Piccole Dentellières de Cogne and the educational services of the MAV.
The event, educational activities, admission to the museum and the exhibition “Merletti, fili che uniscono” are free.

FAMU – National Day of Families at the Museum
On Sunday 8 October, MAV celebrates FAMU-National Family Day at the Museum by offering a special activity entirely dedicated to young visitors. The event, which involves almost 700 museums throughout Italy, promotes family-friendly museum visits and this year’s theme is accessibility.
The protagonists of the activity proposed by MAV are the senses through which we know objects. Thanks to stations created specifically for this purpose, children and their families can discover the objects in the museum in different ways: with touch, hearing and smell.
The activity is aimed at children aged 3 to 12 and their families and is free. No reservation is required to participate.
