CONCERTS AND CONFERENCES AT THE MAIN
Following the success of the month of August, the events at the MAIN – Maison de l’Artisanat International continue this month with two free concerts and two conferences, every Saturday at 5.30 pm.
We start on Saturday 8th September with the concert “ Fiato alle Trombe ”.
“What are the sounds of God?” Hans Leo Hassler, Giovanni Gabrieli, and Johann Sebastian Bach must have wondered as they wrote beautiful polyphonies for the brass instruments of their cathedrals. Since the Renaissance, these instruments have continued to inspire composers from Carl Maria von Weber to Herbie Hancock.
The performers will be: Paolo Battuello and Dino Domatti on trumpets; Remy Vayr Piova and Andrea Domatti on trombones.
Saturday 15 and 22 September will be the turn of the conferences: the first will be about the ” Borsalelli Collection ” composed of more than 800 sticks that will be told by its collector Silvio Borsarelli from Mondovì. The second instead will be an interesting analysis on the jester’s stick with a small theatrical piece held by Tito Saffioti followed by the reflection of the craftsman Luigi Revelant from Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The MAIN season will end with a bang on Saturday 29 September thanks to the concert entitled: “ Soffi e Battiti ” with Selene Framarin on the clarinet and Lorenzo Barbera on percussion.
Musical instruments are nothing but objects. The musicians, moving through the rooms of the museum, explore them by giving them a breath, caressing them or hitting them, and giving birth to stories that are different each time, intertwining echoes of ancient, experimental and ethnic music.
FROM THE CRADLE TO THE STICK AND TODAY I AM THE CRAFTSMAN
The educational project “MAV 2018” focuses on the concept of measuring TIME from different points of view.
On Wednesday 12 and 19 September from 3 to 5 pm, children and their families will discover some objects from the Val d’Aosta popular tradition linked to the different phases of man’s life that they will then have to reproduce in the museum’s Educational Carpentry.
Wednesday 26th September, again from 3pm to 5pm instead, ready to indulge yourself with: Today I am the craftsman! young participants, in fact, will be able to develop their manual skills and build a wooden object by themselves, freely inspired by the artefacts in the museum collection.
Cost and how to participate:
The cost for each individual workshop is €7.00 per child with the option of a subscription for €35.00 (for 5 entries + 1 free). Reservations are required (max. 15 children) at the MAV (0165-763912) by 6:00 pm the day before.

L'ARTISANA PARTICIPATES WITH ITS MUSEUMS IN PLAISIRS DE CULTURE
In addition to all the events and activities this month, L’Artisanà is participating as every year in “Plaisirs de Culture” by offering the opportunity to visit the MAV for free from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 September, from 10 am to 6 pm.
We go to discover the artisanal cultural heritage among sculptures and artefacts of use that
they tell about manual activities, past and present, with an eye towards the future,
through a modern and timeless museum setting.
In addition to visiting the new exhibition dedicated to the world of MAIN sticks for free, on Saturday 15 September from 3pm to 5pm
an educational workshop for families will be held entitled:
beauty and simplicity – my stick. After a short visit to the MAIN exhibition spaces, the children will try their hand at decorating simple branches by removing parts of the bark in order to
get unique and personalized sticks.
