PELLEGRINO Margherita
Margherita’s passion for weaving was born completely by chance. At twenty, her mother persuaded her to join her at a weaving course in Biella: although her knowledge was very limited, the moment she picked up the shuttle threaded with wool she felt as if she had always done it, immediately understanding the interplay between warp and weft without the need for many explanations. Two years later, her parents gave her a loom and, thanks also to another course, she began her journey as a weaver in the time she managed to carve out. In 2025, her life changed radically: she chose to leave her job and start a project that allows her to be an artisan in every sense. Her harmonious creativity now finally finds the right time to express itself.
LES TISSERANDS COOPERATIVA
Since 1969, Les Tisserands has been involved in the conservation, innovation and promotion of the ancient art of weaving to the loom of Valgrisenche, Pays des Tisserands.
By mixing the ancient gestures with the creative ideas of the craftswomen, the drap is born: a pure virgin wool fabric, unique and exceptional for its resistance and warmth.
The cooperative stands out for the choice to use wool from the shearing of the Rosset sheep, an indigenous race of Valle d’Aosta, threatened with extinction. In addition, the cooperative follows the different stages of transformation from the wool fibre to the yarn with which they weave fabrics in natural or multicoloured tones, suitable for the creation of warm and comfortable clothes and durable furnishings.
Les Tisserands offer not only fabrics by the meter and natural yarns for knitting and weaving, but also scarves and ponchos, bags, hats and other accessories: all unique pieces handcrafted from pure wool.
FIORI, FILI E COLORI – BRUNET Ilaria
Ilaria was born in a picturesque mountain village at the foot of Mont Blanc and from an early age cultivated a passion for plants. This interest led her to graduate studies in plant biology.
Over the years, she became fascinated by the wonderful world of dyeing plants and, guided by her curiosity, then approached craftsmanship by participating in courses and immersing herself in reading until she perfected the technique of dyeing various yarns as well as Rosset wool.
In 2020 she transformed her passion into a tangible project: thus “Fiori, Fili e Colori” was born, which soon became not only her work, but also an authentic way of living life.
To create her works, Ilaria uses wild plants and flowers grown in her dye garden, a small chromatic paradise that she has lovingly tended over the years.
D’SOCKA COOPERATIVA
The D’Socka Cooperative was born in Gressoney in 2001 with the aim of keeping alive the ancient manufacture of “Sock”, the traditional slippers of the Valley of Gressoney, made with wool fabrics and entirely sewn by hand. The colours used for their manufacture are different, but the preferred is certainly red, a colour that characterizes the traditional costume of the area.
In addition to traditional slippers, the Cooperative produces small items for home decoration and personal items such as purses and cases.
Over time, thanks to its participation in regional and non-regional fairs, the production of this Cooperative has been appreciated for the quality of the materials and the manufacture.
