Oeuvre Choisie
From Febrary 15 to May 11, 2025
Oeuvre Choisie is the exhibition that the MAV – Museum of Traditional Crafts of the Aosta Valley dedicates to the millennial Saint-Ours Fair and to the works selected each year from over a thousand stalls. The works, chosen for their unique characteristics, represent the ideal thread connecting the past and present of traditional Aosta Valley craftsmanship, exhibited at the museum in a continuous dialogue between tradition and modernity.
The selection of the works is based on criteria such as the materials used, manufacturing techniques, aesthetics, respect for proportions, and the simplicity of the product.
The 15th edition of Oeuvre Choisie has awarded the following works by Corrado Abram, Gianni Bionaz, Davide Brusaferro, Dario Crétier, Bruno Diémoz, Ezio Gallet, Marco Joly, Fulvio Marguerettaz, Dante Marquet, Giuseppe Martoccia, Gianfranco Nicoletti, Giorgio Giuseppe Perin Ritz, Guglielmo Pramotton, Antonio Roncari, Sebastiano Scordamaglia, and Elio Michele Sucquet.
This initiative is particularly important for the museum, which firmly believes in the need to maintain a strong link between the past and present, between the cultural and productive aspects of craftsmanship. Knowledge of tradition and ancient manual techniques can, now more than ever, contribute to conscious and high-quality craftsmanship.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness of contemporary craftsmanship, reflect on the value of tradition today, and demonstrate that tradition continues to live and evolve.
