Let’s RETURN, the rediscovery…
30 November 2012
An exhibition dedicated to the rediscovery of the ancient technique of pole turning, but also a project aimed at the rediscovery of ancient techniques and gestures, at the reflection on the uniqueness of the manually turned work and on the simplicity of its forms.
The exhibition was part of a larger project, dedicated to the rediscovery of this ancient processing technique and comparison with its use in the world. During these two years the turning project has embraced all areas of the museum’s activity: from the protection and enhancement of heritage, to ethno-artisan research, to educational dissemination. This exhibition is in fact the point of arrival (and departure) of a project born from a cross-border work group between Italy and Switzerland that through a training course wanted to bring this ancient savoir-faire back to the surface. Within this project, a training course was also organized for the enhancement of this technique in which some Valle d’Aosta turners identified by the institution participated, and a workshop to bring enthusiasts together.
