A sculpture on every page

The exhibition was born from the desire to express the artistic, creative and aesthetic value inherent in many works of craftsmanship and often difficult to communicate. By emptying the heritage of their material content and the characteristics of the executive techniques, their creative peculiarities, essential forms and aesthetic power are celebrated through the “paper material” and in particular the pop-up.

The exhibition “A sculpture on every page” was born from the desire to express the artistic, creative and aesthetic value inherent in many of the museum’s works and often difficult to communicate. The idea of the project therefore starts by emptying the selected heritage from its material content and the characteristics of the executive techniques to celebrate its creative peculiarities, essential forms and aesthetic power. Through the “paper material” and in particular the pop-up it was thus possible to reread the rich heritage of forms of traditional Aosta Valley craftsmanship in another guise. Thanks to paper, a light, economical and flexible material, it was thus decided to give voice to the analysis of the forms, using different processing techniques.
The exhibition featured a series of “paper sculptures” representing some wooden works exhibited at the museum in a space where different materials and expressions interacted to give voice to the value of sculpture. The exhibition also featured paper creations resulting from an experimental educational project carried out with the children of the third grade of the Pallein – Saint-Christophe School. A project and an exhibition that were able to rediscover the aesthetic power of craftsmanship thanks to the pure and essential forms of paper.
