There are 15 Oeuvre Choisie 2020, works selected from over a thousand stalls at the Fiera di Sant’Orso. The initiative, now in its IX edition and eagerly awaited by exhibitors, has seen the works of Corrado Abram, Lea Berard, Jean Betemps, Giuseppe Bethaz, Bruno Brunodet, Livio Charbonnier, Remo Cuignon, Osvaldo Empereur, Jean Gadin, Mathis Gorraz, Angelo Joly, Marco Joly, Aldo Ottobon, Pier Giuseppe Paoloni, Nadia Pardi and Thierry Scandella stand out.
The Curator-responsible for the museums of L’Artisanà, Dr. Nurye Donatoni, has selected from over a thousand stalls at the fair the works that, due to their characteristics, can be considered the most representative of the ideal fil rouge between the past and present of traditional Aosta Valley craftsmanship. The materials used, the manufacturing techniques, the aesthetic appeal, the respect for proportions and the simplicity of the product, these are the elements on which the evaluation is based. The initiative, which in 9 years has involved over 150 artisans, aims to affirm the need to keep the link between the past and the present, between the cultural and productive aspect of Aosta Valley craftsmanship, strong.
Carnival Workshops at MAV
Carnival is approaching and children can’t wait to transform themselves into their favorite superheroes for a few days. But who were the superheroes of the Aosta Valley children of the past?
This year, the MAV – Museo dell’Artigianato Valdostano di Tradizionale is offering the little ones some workshops to reflect on the differences between superheroes of the past and present, and then build wooden masks of their favorite heroes in the Educational Carpentry Workshop to wear in the carnival parades in which they will participate, reviving the ancient tradition of building their own costume.
The workshops are scheduled for Wednesday 5, 12 and 19 February from 3 to 5 pm and Saturday 22 February from 10 am to 12 pm and from 3 to 5 pm.

Craft vs Ethnography
The exhibition, set up inside the Donnas Wine and Viticulture Museum, can be visited until February 19, 2020. The exhibition features a series of sculptures that tell the story of the world of viticulture in a dialogue between ethnography and craftsmanship, comparing the artefacts of the wine museum and the heritage of the MAV.
