A game-visit in which children find the main geometric shapes hidden in the objects exhibited at the museum. Starting from these same shapes they will then create their own object, multi-form and multi-material, in the Educational Carpentry.

A treasure hunt inside the exhibition space will lead children to discover traditional games from the Aosta Valley: tatà, cockerels, spinning tops, little animals and statuettes. The students will then become craftsmen themselves and, with the tools of the Educational Carpentry, will create a small wooden animal.

The telling of a short story accompanies children to discover the wool production chain: from sheep to blanket. Later, the young artisans will build their small looms and learn to weave wool on a loom to create a traditional drap. An activity to develop concentration and fine manual skills.

After discovering the history, legends and symbols linked to this saint, the apprentice craftsmen will put themselves to the test in the Educational Carpentry Workshop to create their very own sculpture of Sant’Orso.

What did Jules Brocherel mean by the expression “means of transport” a hundred years ago? What are the means of transport today and what could they be in the decades to come? Starting from these questions, we will reflect together on the means of transport of various historical periods and then create, in the Educational Joinery, a means of transport of yesterday, today or tomorrow.

A workshop that wants to overturn points of view and certainties! The activity begins with practical experimentation in the Educational Carpentry Workshop in which children will create small handcrafted works. Subsequently, accompanied by museum educators, the little artisans will reflect together on the placement of their works within the exhibition path.

A workshop to learn to observe the environment around us and simplify its forms. With twigs, bark, pine cones, wool and other materials that nature offers us, the little artisans are invited to change their point of view and test their manual skills and creativity to give life to bizarre little animals. An activity to develop the ability to abstract and simplify reality.

A workshop where children can try their hand at the technique of vannerie, the art of weaving, one of the oldest artisanal practices in the world and capable of telling the story of a deep bond between man and nature that cyclically regenerates itself every year.

Duration: 3 hours

After discovering the main traditional carnivals of the Aosta Valley and a treasure hunt inside the museum to find the protagonists of the historic carnivals, we will meet in the Falegnameria Didattica to create the Landzette of the coumba Freida, the devil of Pont-Saint-Martin or the Countess Caterina di Challant di Verrès.

An experimental laboratory that explores with the young participants the relationship between raw materials and work tools. The purpose of the activity is not the creation of a finished product but rather the experimentation of manual skills, the relationship between tool and material and the management of challenges.

Duration: 3.5 hours

The tree is a very precious element for our planet. But what is it for and how is it used by man? We will discover it through direct experience with educational-entertainment activities in the forest, the observation of a craftsman at work, a visit to the water sawmill and the exhibition spaces of the MAV. At the end of the day, the children will create their own object in the Educational Carpentry: a real journey “from the forest to the object”.

Duration: 6 hours (with bus available for the whole day).
Min. 10 and max. 25 participants per group ; possibility of dividing larger groups into subgroups.
*This activity can only be done from April to October.
